John Swinney helps launch Green Living by Dawn
Mr John Swinney, Cabinet Secretary for Sustainable Growth launches the “Green Living by Dawn" project

Housing accounts for 30% of the UK’s total energy use and 27% of its CO2 emissions. We at Dawn believe that by investing and innovating in the new build housing market, we as an industry can reduce the requirement for energy and significantly reduce the harmful CO2 being emitted into the atmosphere, whilst providing enhanced living spaces.

In partnership with South Lanarkshire College and Glasgow Caledonian University, Dawn Homes will deliver the Aurora (Code Level 5 for Sustainable Homes) and will be inviting the housebuilding industry and wider client groups to embrace “Green Living by Dawn”.

On the 1st June 2009, Mr John Swinney, Cabinet Secretary for Sustainable Growth launched the “Green Living by Dawn” project, stating:

“Moving to a low carbon economy presents huge opportunities for Scotland and we need to make our buildings greener to meet ambitious climate change targets. With forthcoming changes to building standards to reduce emissions, there is a real opportunity for innovation and this project will help develop the low carbon house of the future. This project could improve skills and support jobs, enhance the built environment and reduce emissions, while lowering people’s bills. It is precisely the kind of project I would encourage.”
